Trip to the Dentist July 21st 2015. URGENT, NEW SENIOR MISSIONARY DENTAL COUPLES NEEDED. SISTERS LEARN TO BE ASSISTANTS ON THE JOB

There are presently two missionary couples who serve in the Dental Clinic here in Guatemala.  They give dental service to  the orphans, elementary school children, missionaries , members of the LDS Church and those who have needs that are impossible here in Guatemala.  Who ever reads this please pass along to retired dentists that wish to serve.  We found out that Spanish is not necessarily needed.  We have a 75 year old retired dentist that did not speak Spanish at all but learned some to communicate to patients. His wife who is 73 learned some Spanish also enough to communicate and she learned to be his assistant.  We are very grateful for the service of Elder and Sister Jim and Carol Curtis.  When the Milne´s leave on July 31st, there will be only one couple left. We need at least three more couples.

We made an appointment to have our teeth cleaned before leaving Guatemala here in 6 weeks and we were priviliged to see some elementary school children ages 5 and 6 receive some dental examinations and floride treatments.  The kids were pretty excited to be there.  Photos as follows.

July 18th through the 19th. Public Affairs Training with David Parra and Todd Goulding.

We had two Public Affairs consultants to the Newsroom software come to train us and for the Public Affairs Newsroom Editors of Central America.

It was well done and I learned some things myself to make my work on the Corus program better defined as it is an update from what was previously used.

Here are a few pictures of our event held in the Barcelo Hotel nearby the area office.

July 10th and 11th Copan Honduras trip to see the ruins with Senior Missionaries Brereton and Fillmore

We had seen the Copan ruins before but the land around was so dry that it did not lend much to the experience.  Al wanted to see the ruins again with it being lush and green.  Two other Missionary couples, Elder Dave and Sister Valerie Brereton and Elder and Sister Fillmore all wanted to go so we traded vehicles to accommodate six people and headed out about 5 am on Friday the 10th to Honduras.  We got across the border all right with our passportes and headed to the ruins.  Didn´t take long to get there from the border.  The time it took to  drive there was about 5 hours.  We  took shifts on drivers and that made it less stressful for any one person.
