We had also took a little time out to visit San Pedro Island on the 17th of April to do some snorkeling an enjoy a day before going back to Belize City to meet up with Elder and Sister Done for the closing ceremony and meet with the United States Ambassador to establish good relations with the church and the Ambassador.
This man is a very good man. Good to have him be a US Ambassador.
We stayed in a beautiful hotel on San Pedro Island Called Sunbreeze Hotel. We snorkeled with the famiy of Elder and Sister Alden who live on San Pedro Island and are serving in the District Branch Presidency there helping the saints understand and live the Gospel. They are very nice people and doing a great work there. We so appreciate their guiding us to a nice snorkeling tour that was so great. The instructions on snorkeling is "Don´t disturb the sea life and leave the fish and turtles alone". The sea turtles did not know the instructions as one swam right next to me and really startled me. Then I petted its shell. Ha ha. Seriously they have beautiful colors. Brown, gold and yellow. I really enjoyed having one so close to me.

We landed on San Pedro Island. We look like tourists with missionary badges
From our balcony in our hotel on San Pedro Island. The Sunbreeze Hotel on Coconut Drive, San Pedro Island. And how far was the hotel from the airport????? We walked to and from it in a matter of minutes. We even had someone meet us at the airport and walk us across the street to the hotel.
These pictures are all in walking distance of our hotel. The above picture is an evening photo from our balcony. Yes it was warm and yes I got a sunburn on my back from snorkeling without putting sunscreen on or wear protective clothing...but I healed quickly.
Below is Alvin on his 72nd birthday and we went Cave Tubing in Belize with Elder and Sister Done
This was really a refreshing experience which we all enjoyed.

Out of the cave and floating down the shallow river and enjoying the beautiful scenery
Meet the Dones.
A cooling, refreshing and beautiful adventure.
We then traveled on to Tikal with Elder and Sister Done.
We lost our air conditioning and Elder B and D are looking under the hood for an answer. It was very hot and we were to travel about 5 hours to get back to Guatemala. So we decided to pray about it and after the prayer we got into the car and Elder Al looked at the dash and found that a button was not pushed to start the AC. Prayers were answered but getting old is a challenge.

The interesting things about these early temples is that they are dated 900 AD and had to be uncovered in 1955 because jungle had just covered them all. There are still more hills that could be unearthed but the funds need to be provided to do so. There is virtually nothing inside these structures. Just rocks. And when the earthquakes destroy them over time, the people just restore them by putting more stones on top of them. At the top of the temples are rooms for sacrifices as uncovered evidenced indicated.

This ringtailed animal is called a Pzote, a cousin to the racoon. It has a snout like an anteater. This one came right close to us and I managed to get a few photos of it.
